The museum was set up in 2008 by the cultural association of the local library and is housed in the restored ancient tower, extending over four floors and a basement.
Created originally as a photographic museum (with a series of panels illustrating the history of the area: its traditions and daily life; work, clothing, life on the high alpine pastures...) with appropriate captions in a range of languages; over the years it has been embellished by a display of equipment and tools of the past donated by local residents, and with a comprehensive inventory.
This ethnographic museum is regarded as a ‘first step’ by the association that has plans to extend their exhibition area considerably, incorporating other sites (mill, wine press, typical old houses, a horse museum) and to reclaim and make the most of ancient pathways - appropriately signposted and with information boards.
