Today, power-assisted bicycling is genuinely on the move. We are no longer talking about a fashion but a completely new way of interpreting getting about on two wheels, and of
Mtb in particular. Madesimo this summer has already hosted vast numbers of tourists taking full advantage to reach places which might well have remained unexplored by simply using a standard MTB relying simply on the biker’s pedalling potential! Our ever-popular Alpine resort has been quick to equip itself with all things necessary in order to keep pace with changing times and offers various rental options, accompanied outings and hotel package tours which include e-bike provision.
Autumn in Madesimo is undoubtedly the season in which to fully appreciate all the engaging colours of the mountains. Clear blue skies, lush green of fir, and the immaculate early snows on surrounding mountain peaks bring to the fore a veritable rainbow of reds, yellows, gold and brown: the larch in all its seasonal magnificence. What better way to enjoy this magical time than in the saddle of a facilitating e-bike.
There are any number of paths in the upper Valle Spluga ideal for this undemanding discipline. Even for the novice the cycle-path on the Andossi plateau is perfect with its 360° panorama; the old road heading down to Pianazzo taking in the spectacular and yet little-known Catino waterfall, or the Madesimo – Motta – Lago Azzurro – Alpe Groppera – Madesimo loop which offers up a totally different perspective of the ski slopes. Or choose a fine Autumn day to opt for a lengthy spell in the saddle climbing up to Montespluga to take on the Pass as far as the charming Alpine village of Splügen, or alternatively combine sport with culture by following the path which takes in Motta and Fraciscio and visit the Ca’ Bardassa at Fraciscio or the museum Mu.Vi.S. at Campodolcino along the way.
Of course it’s well worth breaking up your excursion by stopping for traditional fare in one of the many restaurants or refuges dotted along whichever route you’ve chosen. There are some fine Autumnal treats on offer, gourmet delights such as game served up amongst a range of local dishes. But this green approach is by no means limited to the ebike. Electric cars are also to the fore. This year Madesimo has incorporated a further key element within its tourist portfolio. Valle Spluga’s pride and joy has become the first mountain municipality in the Province to install electric vehicle recharging stations. A significant advance for anyone who heads for Madesimo in a new-generation vehicle to discover the beauty of our little Alpine corner in an ever more blissful state.
