VIVA VAL CAPRA!
Following the opening ceremony in 2016, Cai Chiavenna’s Bivouac is now ready and awaiting its public.
We’re at precisely 2164m. Just across from the entrance one’s gaze takes you far into the distance. Pizzo Groppera (2948m), Stella (3163m), Galleggione (3107m) make their presence felt whilst to the right and behind Monte Mater (2415m) and Pizzaccio (2588m) play supporting roles. We’re at the summit of Alpe di Lendine. A good pair of legs and energy level has got us here. So make the most of all that’s around in this highly evocative Alpine corner. You deserve it.
The Bivouac Val Capra is located in the Valle del Drogo, above San Bernardo within the territory of San Giacomo Filippo. Its construction exemplifies the due care and attention worthy of a very fine environmental project. Essentially the exterior is stone with a wooden interior, having been developed from the remains of an old pre-existing baita. There are two rooms within, which accommodate respectively the kitchen with an induction stove, table, chests and cupboard; in the second there are eight beds complete with mattresses, pillows and blankets. Lighting is guaranteed by small spotlights powered by solar panels on the roof. Water flows freely from the outside fountain and nearby stream.
