The poet refuge

The Capanna - or refuge - Giovanni Bertacchi, nestling on the banks of the attractive Lago d’Emet represents an oasis of tranquility in the Valle di Madesimo, surrounded by Nature at its most majestic and a silence only to be found in the upper mountains. Accessed by an enjoyable, not too demanding excursion, it’s a place that deserves to be explored leisurely in order to fully grasp its essence. Once you’ve reached your destination, at 2,200m you will be captivated by the beauty all around, which was to prove a genuine source of inspirations for the poetry of Giovanni Bertacchi.

The route there is suitable for everyone, including children, heading off from the hamlet of Macolini, to Madesimo’s north. There’s no hurry and the climb upwards offers plenty opportunities to admire the panorama and perhaps pick a few blueberries and the much-vaunted Iva herb. On arrival, the view that presents itself is astonishing: the entire valle di Madesimo, with Andossi and monte Legnone looming large on the horizon. At the refuge you can have a break picnicking on the shores, or enjoy the relaxation of fishing in mountain lakes and even stay up there IT. Una bella vista dal lago sulle cime dei Piz di Piani (m.3149), Pizzo Ferrè (m. 3103) e Pizzo Tambò (m. 3.279) la più alta della catena Mesolcina. A beautiful view from the lake of the peaks Piz di Piani (3149 m.), Pizzo Ferrè (3103 m.) and Pizzo Tambò (3279 m), the highest in the Mesolcina chain.

Maestro di sci e appassionato di montagna, è presidente del CAI Sez. Vallespluga. Ama le sue montagne e trasmette la passione ai più piccoli. Ski instructor and mountain lover, he is president of CAI Sez. Vallespluga. He loves his mountains and shares his passion with children. Overnight to appreciate magnificent sunsets and sunrises above 2000 m. Lago d’Emet and the Capanna Giovanni Bertacchi also serve as a setting out point for more demanding excursions such as the climb to Pizzo Spadolazzo or Pizzo Emet, or to discover Val di Lei. For those who prefer more leisurely outings the Passo Niemet is only 20 minutes away, leading to the Swiss border. Madesimo also has any number of alpine guides and mountain walking companions with a wealth of knowledge of the valley’s secrets for a full and unforgettable experience.
