The Capanna - or refuge - Giovanni Bertacchi, nestling on the banks of the attractive Lago d’Emet represents an oasis of tranquility in the Valle di Madesimo, surrounded by Nature at its most majestic and a silence only to be found in the upper mountains. Accessed by an enjoyable, not too demanding excursion, it’s a place that deserves to be explored leisurely in order to fully grasp its essence. Once you’ve reached your destination, at 2,200m you will be captivated by the beauty all around, which was to prove a genuine source of inspirations for the poetry of Giovanni Bertacchi.
The route there is suitable for everyone, including children, heading off from the hamlet of Macolini, to Madesimo’s north. There’s no hurry and the climb upwards offers plenty opportunities to admire the panorama and perhaps pick a few blueberries and the much-vaunted Iva herb. On arrival, the view that presents itself is astonishing: the entire valle di Madesimo, with Andossi and monte Legnone looming large on the horizon. At the refuge you can have a break picnicking on the shores, or enjoy the relaxation of fishing in mountain lakes and even stay up there IT. Madesimo also has any number of alpine guides and mountain walking companions with a wealth of knowledge of the valley’s secrets for a full and unforgettable experience.
