Right at the very heart of Val Bregaglia sits a new, beautiful and utterly welcoming resource designed for guests looking for a holiday in contact with history and passion. We’re in Piuro, part of Prosto, a short stroll from the magnificent Palazzo Vertemate, the Renaissance Alpine Mansion. And it’s right here that the Casa Pasini stands proudly, a beautiful recently-renovated guest house but which has crucially retained all its original architectural features whilst duly respecting materials of times past. Casa Pasini boasts six bedrooms, equally romantic and refined, and tastefully furnished using for the most part essential materials such as wood and wrought iron and decorated with natural colours. From the rooms themselves you can enjoy magnificent views of Cortinaccio, the ancient district of Prosto. Breakfast is served in the old wood-panelled stùa, a warm and hospitable spot within which to start the day anew. The rooms provide a really warm welcome. Each was given a name inspired by the rich history that Piuro is proud to boast. For example “1618” pays homage to the year in which the tremendous landslide that overwhelmed the wealthy Alpine village. “Bottoni” recalls, instead, what remains of the very particular “working” of potstone or Pietra Ollare with which cooking pots and containers have been made since ancient times. “Artisti” is dedicated to the characters who with their arts and passions have brought due significance to the valley. And then there is “Palmi” representing the family which masterfully looked after the property prior to its renovation. “Rovedee” owes its name to the area of the Crotti di Cortinaccio which from the windows is to the right. And finally “Mina” is the name of two very special women, different, but equally intimately linked to Piuro. Casa Pasini also hosts an attractive wellness area, a place in which to escape from everyday stress and discover peace and relaxation. An engaging, intimate area with Finnish sauna, outdoor solarium and relaxation zone, offering up a unique and memorable experience. Piuro itself has lots to offer. Ancient mansions, churches, the wild nature of mountain pasture and pathway, parks occupied by tumultuous waterfalls and the glacial phenomenon of the Marmitte, plus the genuine charm of hamlets nestling, suspended on the mountain sides. The delights of local, simple cuisine and the authenticity of the Crotti accommodating both flavours and fellowship.
