The Albigna valley is the perfect spot where you can practise a wide range of outdoor sports in Autumn.
Reachable either on foot or by using the convenient cable car, the area is amongst the most appreciated destinations for enthusiasts for the upper mountains. We are in Switzerland, in a setting where the magnificent Alps surround Val Bregaglia.
Impressive peaks are reflected in the lake at around 2150m. such as the Fiamma, Spazzacaldeira, Piz Frachiccio and Punta dell&´Albigna, and offers climbing routes suitable for all levels of experience, perfect for enjoying beautiful Autumn days to the full. Bouldering enthusiasts will appreciate more than fifty slabs with an infinite number of routes spread throughout four areas near the Albigna cabin, ranging from difficulty levels from 5a to 7b+/7c. Perfect for technical challenges in a calm and seductive environment. Still in Albigna, Autumn is a great time for hiking with trails that range from the easy route which leaves from the cable car up to the cabin, (around an hour) to the more challenging white and blue one which leads to Passo del Casnile, taking in mountain lakes and magnificent panorama. Don’t ignore a halt at the welcoming cabin, a transit point along the recently opened circular route around the lake.
For more experienced climbers, Albigna throws up some interesting challenges amongst the peaks that frame the area. Make a note of the Cima di Cantun, Cima di Castello and Piz Casnil, with proposals for itineraries on glaciers and climbs along the ridges. These ascents, characterised by a variety of difficulty and terrain, are particularly rewarding during Autumn when temperatures are milder and the landscape is tinged with warm colours. Albigna in Autumn is a versatile, fascinating destination for anyone eager to explore the mountains, practise sports in the open air and enjoy the beauty of the season.
