Open air breaks in Val Bodengo

Another exciting season within the world of holiday in the open air is anticipated in Valchavenna. Here&´s all the latest.

More and more tourists are choosing to spend their holidays in tents or camper. In Italy it&´s estimated that between 48 and 45,4 million stays will be recorded in camp sites, villages and overnight stay areas during the summer of 2022, an increase of between 1,8 and 2% with respect to 2021. And in Valchiavenna there is no shortage of camp sites where visitors can choose to stay. In addition to those already reviewed here we can add the well-organised Camping Bodengo Ranget at Donadivo in the municipality of Gordona.

The place is located on the hillside that climbs towards Val Bodengo: a little piece of heaven for mountain enthusiasts, accessible by car from Gordona in only ten minutes. It&´s a new and welcoming amenity created with passion and hard work by Enzo and Marta and boasts an exceptional view over Valchiavenna. Equipped with pitches for tents, bathrooms, bar and kitchen facility, barbecue and wood-burning oven, Camping Bodengo Ranget is the perfect spot for hikers and lovers of canyoning to enjoy a few relaxing days in Val Bodengo.

The place also lends itself nicely to appreciate typical local dishes or to enjoy an aperitif alongside focaccia, cured meats and local cheeses. Val Bodengo is noted throughout Italy for the natural gorges along the Boggia torrent, which come alive in summer with the arrival of the canyoning fraternity. For more than 20 years the place has attracted sportsmen/women from all over the country and indeed abroad. Canyoning can count an increasing number of enthusiasts and the presence of qualified guides has become a pre-requisite to tackle the torrent and its verticality in safety. Well-organised in three outings of increasing difficulty, canyoning in Val Bodengo is a fantastic experience, to be celebrated afterwards in one of the local restaurants or refuges.
