For lovers of the snow Maloja is the perfect winter destination in Val Bregaglia , and the gateway to the magnificent upper Engadine ski area and offers all winter sports enthusiasts an infinite number of possibilities.

 

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

Maloja and the upper Engadine region, with more than 200 km of well-maintained cross country trails, represent one of the largest cross country skiing paradises in the world. The genuine diversity of the landscapes and the exceptional quality of the slopes and snow is impressive. From January it&´s also possible to ski on the frozen, snow-covered lake at Sils. At the same time, the slightly more demanding cross country ski trail from Maloja to Isola winds its way through the forest. The fantastic cross country ski track "La Palza" is also located in woodland, far from roads and traffic and takes skiers to "Orden" and from here along a sun-kissed and hilly circular track.

 

AELA SKI AREA WITH PONYLIFT, SNOWTUBING AND TOBOGGAN RUN

At Maloja, the ski areas of Aela and Ponylift have fantastic slopes, ideal for families and the more demanding skier too. The area with ski lift, and the brand new ponylift and snowtubing is perfect for families with young children. Next to the Ponylift there is also a toboggan run for the delight of the little ones. The main ski lift takes skiers from the 1,817 metres of Maloja to 2,100 m of the small peak. The ski area remains illuminated by the sun throughout the day and during both ascent and descent you can take in the splendid panorama of the granite peaks of Bregaglia to one side, and the snow-covered lakes of the Engadine on the other. The Aela is a place for the genuine connoisseur that offers both tranquility and bags of fun!

 

First and foremost it&´s an absolute treat! No-one is concerning themselves with speed or altitude and attention is concentrated on a unique experience at the very heart of Nature.
