ISOLA – VAL FEBBRARO – BORGHETT O

One of the most memorable outings on snow rackets has to be that which takes in Val Febbraro with its highly evocative corners. There’s tranquillity, time for contemplation but within the silence of all things natural it boasts a wealth of culture and history. There are a range of itineraries heading off from Isola but the one up to the high pastures of Alpe Borghetto is a classic, the beautiful little church of S. Martino/ Giorgio (1400) taken in on the way up, then across the Febbraro torrent noting the different architectural styles of ‘carden’ and the German influenced ‘blockaus’ both wooden dwellings situated on the upper pastures and snow-laden plateaux whilst enjoying the magnificent peaks all around.

Borgetto itself boasts a magnificent waterfall, completely frozen in winter, popular with ice climbers. There are wonderful panoramas from the upper stretches contrasting with the intimacy of muletracks through dense conifer. It’s well worth having a serious look at this

highly recommended route full of splendid options.
