The mountains have finally abandoned their autumn shades and adopted the purest of winter mantles. The little streets of Madesimo have come alive again and the ski slopes are awash with the would-be sportive of all shapes and sizes. There are a host of events to look forward to in this most exhilarating of seasons, from the close-at-hand festive period through to the plethora of races and festivals in the year to come. And there’s a brand new sporting event this year in Valchiavenna’s busy schedule.
 

On 17 th March the Madesimo Winter Trail will feature for the very first time. Naturally visitors have been flying around the ample slopes of Skiarea Valchiavenna for an age, but this premier will represent the first officially timed race over the snow on a predetermined course. The much-anticipated event has come about thanks to the cooperation between the ASD Italian Sports Lab and the Consorzio Turistico di Madesimo, who have come up with an alternative formula to appreciate the mountains to the full.

People invariably ski or go trekking, but not all race. Which is why Madesimo is keen to invite visitors to try their hand at a new activity, accessible to the many whilst remaining memorable, exciting and yet not only for the competitive. The total distance will be short of 10k with a positive height differential of around 300m. The snow trail will be thoroughly packed down using snow-cat and snowmobile and the route carefully marked out with the start and finish in the Arlecchino area. Packages which include accommodation.
